Reducing stress during a move

Post by LiveForSatori on Mon May 23, 2011 7:54 am

I recently had to move my fish via two hour drive on the floor in the front passenger seat. I cut the water in their tank down to about half and gave them each a blood worm before we left. But now that we're here, and its been two days, im still seeing behavior differences. Could it just be the stress? What are some ways to reduce stress during big moves like that?

I would imagine its the stress of the drive/move and they should come out of it on there own. Just keep them quiet and maybe cover the tank and/or leave
the light off for a couple days.

What size are your tanks? The larger the tank the more sloshing they would
have had to endure. I'd recommend bagging next time you move them.

It's a plastic divided tank. I really hate the idea of bagging, but does it really reduce stress?

If it keeps the sloshing down I'm sure iy would help some. Just a thought.

Im planning a move of house in the future and my other half keeps saying i dont know how we're going to move all these! I do have quite a few!!

But as 2Tall said i would definately say bagging them would be a better option either way its going to be stressful for them...my move is going to be a 4 hour drive...

You can get things to put in the water to keep then at ease a little i cant remember what they are called but apparently that helps.
