Feathered Visitor

Post by Irish_Lass on Sun 20 Mar 2011 - 11:32

On the farm my dad incubates pheasant eggs and releases them into our surrounding fields every so often. They go on about their life/business but once in a blue moon one comes back to visit and ends up becoming a regular visitor during feeding time in the mornings. This wee lad popped up this morning so dad had me running for my camera! I find male pheasants absolutely stunning so I thought I'd share some pics.

Yeah, its really lovely seeing some of them come back. Dad puts so much effort into rearing the young. He does it for no other reason than its nice to see them in the countryside. Smile

That's really good of your dad, it's so important to conserve native species.

He's a lovely bird, so inquisitive looking! I love seeing pheasants in the countryside, unfortunately all too often the only ones you see are roadkill Sad

He was spooked a few times and ran away but the draw of food brought him back time and again that morning. Smile
