Silly Betta!

Post by Luimeril on Sun Oct 10, 2010 2:03 pm

so, i have my yellow pineapple VT, Gackt, divided in a 10 gallon with my fancy guppy(sadly, the other two passed on from unknown causes. i'm thinking internal parasites, so i ordered some meds yesterday). every single time i'd feed the guppies, Gackt would go crazy, wiggling and jumping a bit, clearly begging for some flakes! i know they're not good for bettas, but i'd have to sprinkle a teeny bit on his side, or i'm scared he'll jump the divider and hurt himself, and Mickey(who he's already beaten up, after getting onto Mickey's side last night. fixed that issue. Mad ).

he's not my only silly betta. since i have 7, i get to see all sorts of silly things!

my HMPK, Chappy, is happy, as long as her Java moss is in the tank with he. it could be a boring, bland tank, but as long as she can explore around in her moss, she's a happy camper. i often see her, snuggled up in it, like a kid with a blanket!

Cup, my first marble VT, is infatuated with an anime figurine i have in front of his tank. poor fella, doesn't know the figure is a boy!

just thought i'd share how silly my bettas can be!

what silly things do your bettas do?

One of my CT's Sterling hangs out at the bottom of his tank and just stares
at me while I at the computer. I'll peer around the corner and wave at him.
Then its off to the races for him as he swims all excitedly around the tank hoping
to be fed.

I feed my bettas with a blunt-nosed tweezers. When I hold a frozen bloodworm about a quarter of an inch above the water, my new little pink guy jumps partially out of the water to grab it. Cute!

My other betta, Flame, likes to play with the food that I put in his tank for the snail. I frequently put a tiny piece of broccoli stem in there (the snail's favorite snack) and Flame likes to flip it around the tank. He doesn't try to eat it -- just pushes it along with his nose. I've seen him move that thing all over the tank and the snail has to constantly chase after it. Ha ha! When the snail catches the broccoli she wraps herself completely around it so Flame can't reach it. But if she lets it go and moves away, Flame bops it across the tank again.

Also, when the snail is eating a piece of veggie, Flame is utterly fascinated. He literally puts his nose right in the snail's face as close as he can get and stares. It's very funny.

How is that "hot rod" of a "Flame" anyway?

I use tweezers too! Nothing like being fed with a silver spoon!

Oh I can't stand touching fish food -- especially the worms. yuck. Flame is a wild little dude! Seems to like his snail friend. I took the snail out once thinking I'd keep her in another tank but Flame seemed to be looking all over his tank wondering where that snail went. So I put her back. They are happy campers & very entertaining! Smile
