Should the betta exercise on the mirror?

I've read somewhere that one should put the betta at least once daily for 15-20 min in front of a mirror in order to keep him fit or something. I myself think that it would only keep him stressed. Can anyone confirm, deny or give thoughts into it?

I wouldnt do it for 15 - 20 mins but a few mins infront of a mirror helps to get their fins flared out you can check for damage or disease and it is good exercise and helps to stop clamping but 15 to 20 mins in one go is a long time, a few mins now and then is fine.

I dont do mine on a regular basis. But if they look a bit bored I let them flare for about 5 minutes

I've never put a mirror in front of my boys, but then they all live in divided tanks so have someone to flare at. They have a go at their reflection in the glass sometimes. I think 15-20mins sounds long though

I tried putting a mirror in front of my boy and he flipped out. He zipped around the tank at lightning speed and ended up in the back on the bottom breathing heavy. I never tried it again. I've had him for a month or so and I've never seen him flare, not once.

Was he new to the tank at the time? I probably would't try it again either! Might have scared himself!
