ps what is a candling lamp?

A candling lamp can identify infertile eggs but if I remember correctly, it can only do it with certain shell colours.

reviving this thread. I am now left with mother finch and baby finch who isnt a baby any more. Dad had a couple of strokes rallied round and then just died. The other 2 are company for each other though
