Tank Divider...

Post by jasminek on Mon Dec 28, 2009 1:24 pm

I've decided to add Alphie to the girls tank as his tank is just a plastic tank facing sideways, ti looks messy and i'd like to add him to the 80L with the 8 girls.
How much do I need to divide off for him?
Will the girls be alright with less space?
Also where can I buy a divider and how much do you think it would cost?
Also, would he be flaring allt he tim at the girls?

1.) 15-20L Should be fine
2.) How many have you got now? 8? They should be fine. IMO
3.) Penn Plaxx, or those cross stich grids will do. Try the LFS, EBAY or [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
4.) he might flare he might not, this will ware off anyhows. They females might get eggy too. So just keep and eye on them. It should be fine anyway.

My Dividers are smaller, but you can sew them together to make them bigger, (like Haych has done) so you would only need two id say. If your interested let me know. Very Happy

just a note of experience, I have put my VT next to the girls and he flares none stop. One of the girls keeps getting breeding stripes too!

The other boys dont bother with the girls, just each other lol!

Thanks Haych, well i have 9 pots of cambomba int here which have gone mad and are reaching the surface and are really bushy so will put a few big pots of that along the divider. Alphie always flares alot when the peice of paper between the tanks is moved but i'll see how he gets on.
I'm thinking of dividing 20L off? What does everyone thinka bout that?
I don't want to do any less as I wouldn't feel fair or any more as my girls need space too. I'm just worried that hes going to have more tall space than wide.

Divider should be here soon hopefully tomorrow Smile
I've measured a fraction of the tank & put the measurements into the tank calc and it came up as 23L so i'll just let him have that much Smile
